Abstract
In this paper, we study two identification methods, based on the frequency and time domains, applied to a benchmark model proposed by M´Saad (1991) for different conditions of noise, saturation, disturbances. Furthermore, we use the different estimated models with a well known control design technique to give a range of different controllers for the same specifications of the controlled process. The quality of these controllers is used to compare the performance of the identification methods. The frequency and time domain parameter estimation methods used are presented. The benchmark and the scenarios to be applied in simulation are given. The pole assignment control design is described. The control performance obtained using the two approaches is shown.
