Abstract
The author uses the uniform geometrical theory of diffraction to derive an asymptotic solution of the three-dimensional diffraction problem of an arbitrarily oriented electric dipole field by an ideally conducting rectangular screen. The amplitude directive patterns are calculated and analysed for the orthogonal field components of the investigated system in different observation planes. The influence of the dipole orientation on the directive patterns of the fields diffracted by the screen and by the edge of the half plane is also examined
