Abstract :
This paper is devoted to electric explosion of metal wires. A two-dimensional magnetohydrodynamic model based on the particle-in-cell method is used to consider the formation of strata and low-density plasma corona surrounding a wire. The stratoformation is shown to be due to evolving overheat instabilities.
