Abstract :
Telephone units have been found to be susceptible to amplitude modulation (AM) and frequency modulation (FM) broadcast signals in many places. The Telecom Engineering Centre (TEC) has brought out a standard for the electromagnetic interference (EMI) evaluation of telecommunication terminal equipment including telephones. A test methodology was devised for the evaluation of telephones, using a sound pressure level meter as performance monitoring equipment for quantitative assessment of equipment under test (EUT) under radiated susceptibility conditions. The test methodology devised and the problems faced during the evaluation are discussed in this paper. A review of the TEC standard to take care of most possible real life situations is also discussed
