Abstract :
This communication proposes the integration of the MAGMAS code with the multi-resolution (MR) approach described in F. Vipiana et al. (2005); the latter can be viewed, inter alia, as a powerful pre-conditioner. The MR scheme essentially consists in the generation and use of vector basis functions, applicable to the analysis of planar and/or 3D antennas, having properties similar to those of scalar wavelet. In particular the MR functions are spectrally localized and this allows the control of the condition number of the MoM matrix in the MR basis simply by application of a diagonal preconditioner. The MR approach leads to the construction of a basis transformation matrix, very sparse and frequency independent, whose rows express the MR functions as a linear combination of the RWG functions defined on the same mesh. For this reason the MR scheme could be quite easily integrated with other MoM-based codes that used the same sub-domain (RWG in the specific case of a triangular mesh) functions to represent the unknown current. The considerations offered in this contribution about the integration of the MR basis into an existing code make obvious reference to the MAGMAS code, but their validity extends to virtually all MoM codes
