Abstract
In this paper, a preconditioner in the implementation of the hybrid volume and surface integral equations (VSIE) with MLFMA solver is described. The algorithm is applied to the calculation of radiation pattern of a microstrip antenna residing in a large open-ended cavity. The numerical results show that the method can substantially reduce the iteration number with CG method. Using this preconditioner and MLFMA, the hybrid VSIE can be applied into the radiation analysis of many large scale problems with microstrip antennas
