Abstract :
In this paper, we have derived the time-domain uniform asymptotic solution for the whispering gallery (WG) mode radiation from the aperture of a cylindrically curved surface. We have extended the uniform asymptotic solution to the cylindrically curved surface with a variable radius of curvature by applying the adiabatic WG mode and the modal ray tracing technique. The validity of the asymptotic solutions proposed here has been confirmed by comparing with the reference solution calculated numerically.
