Title :
Cell like performance using the remotely controlled cellular transmitter
Author_Institution :
NYNEX Mobile Commun., Pearl River, NY, USA
Abstract :
A system design description is given of a remote-controlled cellular transmitter (RCCT) capable of an output power of over 100 W ERP (effective radiated power) when used with a high-gain antenna. The RCCT provides for remote monitoring and control, and it provides for translation of the control channel. It effectively replaces the cell site as an option, at a fraction of the cost. Implementation details are given along with a performance specification of the major components, and field trial results are discussed. NYNEX´s use of the RCCT to provide coverage to the eastern tip of Long Island has proven to be successful
