Abstract
This paper describes a novel repetitive impulse voltage generator using boost converter array. The proposed generator is designed with boost converter array that has series-connected capacitors and IGBTs. The generator easily obtains high voltage pulse without any high voltage pulse transformer and high voltage dc source. Thus, the proposed circuit not only eliminates the high frequency transformer but also can operate up to several kHz along with high reliability and longer life. To verify the proposed circuit, a 2 kV-40 A-pulse generator is implemented and tested.
