Consideration of ease of use in development of advanced controllers

As computers become faster and cheaper so there is an opportunity for new computer-based technology developed in academic institutions to be used in industry more quickly. One common reason that this does not occur is that new techniques developed do not consider the requirements of the user. This paper investigates the development of a multi-variable controller which required research into new approaches to meet end user needs and the thought process lying behind many of the decisions in the development of the package.
