Abstract
In this paper, the beam controllable array antenna is proposed. The characteristics of the antenna are analyzed accurately by the FDTD method. The resonant frequency of the parasitic patch is changed by the diode bias polarity because the distribution of surface current on the parasitic patch is simply controlled by the diode on/off condition. As the mutual coupling of the patches depends on the resonant frequency of the parasitic patch, the phase of excitation voltage is changed by the diode bias. The results of the analysis make it clear that the proposed array antenna has a capability of easy beam control
