Abstract
The Maxwell system for time-dependent electromagnetic fields in a chiral medium is considered. Its equivalent form as a single biquaternionic equation is used for obtaining a general solution in the one-dimensional case. Analysis of the solution leads to conclusions about possible configurations of the field. The dependence of its behavior on the chirality measure is studied.
