Abstract :
The author discusses those aspects of quality assurance which attempt to make some statement regarding the effectiveness of the environment within which the learning takes place. The author reflects on the the style and composition of engineering courses and then discusses the contributors to quality assurance in higher education. The role of the practitioners and the quality issues facing engineering education are also discussed
