Abstract
The minimal controller synthesis (MCS) adaptive controller is applied to the problem of energy efficient digital control of a hydraulic system. This problem has previously received little attention and the purpose of this paper is to show initial simulations of an adaptive controller approach to an electro-hydraulic system. Experimental studies using the Bathfp package show that despite inherent nonlinearities in the system, the MCS algorithm performs well following major plant parameter changes.
