Abstract :
In this paper we present the design of a broadband monopole antenna suitable for multi-band wireless applications in the form factor of USB dongle. By utilizing the PCB layers and the device chassis as the main radiating element, we successfully demonstrate that it is possible to seamlessly merge the antenna into the chassis and excite the monopole mode of chassis by a reciprocal feed fashion. The designed antenna proves to have advantages of high efficiency, good radiation pattern as well as low cost for production. We are also investigating the possibility of replacing the matching circuit by a LTCC module to further reduce the size of the antenna.
