Abstract
This paper describes the work Satellite Information Services (SIS) is doing setting up a compressed digital video services using a number of satellites including EUTELSAT II F3. It identifies the network being planned and outlines the issues surrounding SIS´s decision to collect and deliver its services using compressed digital video. The technical benefits of using this method are shown together with the trade offs between FEC, antenna size and the method of access to the satellite. Many of the comments can equally apply to any satellite system but the benefits of using the EUTELSAT satellite are also highlighted
