Abstract
Investigations in the usage of the UWB technology for medical imaging, in particular for the detection of breast cancer, have recently achieved more and more interest. For such an application, many methods, for example confocal or beamforming techniques etc., basing on the UWB technology, have been used. Together with the cancer detection, an important area of potential application of UWB Radar in the medical field is the detection and the monitoring of water accumulation in the human body. In this paper the applicability of UWB technology in the medical field is analyzed. In particular, a method for the monitoring of water accumulation in the human body is presented, which permits through UWB medical imaging to estimate the quantity of urine in the bladder.
