Abstract :
This paper presents the challenges of developing a SDR hardware prototype platform for the U.S. Army MANET Cognitive Radio (CR) and Cognitive Network (CN) to validate the cognitive algorithms. This paper specifies the CERDEC vision of cognitive algorithms with experiment on protocol of the lower three layer on a set of CR platforms. Later, analyze various SDR hardware platforms which are capable of hosting the CR functions. Finally identify the challenges on validating these approaches on the existing SDR platforms and propose number of solutions to these challenges.
