Abstract :
A six-camera Vicon VX motion analysis system was utilized to track the three-dimensional motion of the pediatric foot and ankle. The system was used in conjunction with a biomechanical model to describe the multi-planar motion of the tibia, hindfoot and forefoot. Radiographic measurements were used to index the motion data with reference to bony landmarks. System characterization indicated an overall static resolution of 0.38 mm and a mean accuracy of 99.12%. Validation tests have confirmed system accuracy and reliability. The system measurements are considered suitable for further clinical testing. Kinematic data from a nonimpaired child are presented
