Abstract :
The fundamental problems of target tracking in a multiple-target environment with clutters, such as false alarms, missed detections, and so forth are the uncertain origin of measurements. In such a multiple-target environment, there is a need to perform track-initiation procedure by which the beginning of a track of each target is detected. We (1999) previously proposed a new track initiation method based on an assumption that the measurements used are observed by highly nonuniform measurement patterns in a multiple target environment. In this paper, we evaluate the performance of the trade-initiation between the proposed method and the conventional method by using the feature of measurement patterns obtained by optical sensors
