Abstract :
Music can be handled in DSP by radio wave demodulation, pulse tone synthesis and sample generation. Only sample generation is applied. A system is considered consisting of a DSP connected to memory (e.g. for databases and tables), a display (for displaying music notation etc.), ADC/DAC (based on sigma delta modulation) and a clock (for synchronization and step timing). This DSP can perform filtering (FIR, IIR etc.), transforms (like FFT), convolution, delaying, solution of equations, interpolation, generation of pulses like window function pulses and editing. It can be programmed in languages like object oriented, for simulation. Also, it can be connected to the Internet which operates using telephone lines, for access from other places. DSP based analysis of sound can be done by spectrum evaluation. Next resynthesis can be accomplished and three resynthesis methods are given. Also an example of note A generation. DSP based processing of sound includes mixing, effects, sequencing, editing and a performance system. DSP based sound synthesis methods are divided into two categories which are described as well as an environment for creating music
