Abstract
The paper points out to the progresses carried out in the exploitation of high fast and precise non-contact velocimetry for robot applications. This technique is based on the precise calculation of the common movement of a laser speckle field. We tested our velocimeter with different kinds of surfaces, and different trajectories of the motion. The precision of the velocity measurements strongly depends on the absolute velocity value. For good conditions the relative error can be less 2%
