Abstract :
Two new types of reduced-surface wave (RSW) antennas that have minimum surface-wave excitation and radiation at the horizon are introduced. These new designs have significantly larger bandwidths than previous designs, while still maintaining low horizon radiation. One proposed design is a cavity-backed slot design. Another variation is the "fence" design, consisting of an RSW antenna surrounded by a vertical conducting fence. Numerical results are obtained to verify the design principle
