With high product output the net result of any breakdowns or unplanned stoppages is very expensive and equipment maintenance is a high priority for Caledonian paper. There is always an element of breakdown diagnosis to identify the problems once an unplanned stoppage has occurred. Intelligent Applications working with Caledonian Paper and using the ReMind software constructed a case based reasoning diagnosis system to assist with faults on the variable speed drives.
