Abstract :
Artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) has proved to be very useful to design low-profile antennas. In this paper, the research concerns a novel AMC structure for wideband applications is presented. It consists of four square patches and a printed cross in the center with unclosed rectangular loop surrounded are proposed as components of a unit cell. This structure can act as high impedance surfaces in a wide frequency band covering the entire Ku-band for both TE and TM polarizations with relatively angular stabilization. The analysis was validated by HFSS simulations and experiment.
