Abstract
Geographic information classification is one of the important topics in Geographical Ontology research. Based on the analysis of existing geographical ontological theory research and application research achievements, combining with the particularity of geographic object, this paper has made in-depth research of geographic information classification theory by using ontology and spatial cognition theory. As an example, the classification of settlement place-a kind of social economic factors is studied here. The research is started with the meta-properties of concept, and the effects of multiplicate factors on classification of geographical elements have been considered synthetically, such as the characteristics of geo-ontology and the spatial structural attribute of geographic object, etc. The purpose of this study is to construct a complete geo-information conceptual classification system based on ontology, so as to solve the existing problems of former classification system.
