Abstract :
Typhoon disasters occurred frequently in China. When typhoon is coming, resident islands had to bear the brunt of typhonic attack. Typhoon usually causes damages to varying degrees in resident islands. Based on field survey of Dongtou county, this paper analyzes the influence of typhoon and the major disaster characteristics in Dongtou county, China, summarizes the typhoon disaster defense situation in two aspects: disaster prevention and mitigation hard strength and disaster prevention and mitigation soft strength. Finally, principle and contents of resident islands typhoon disaster index system is proposed for the aim to clear disaster factors and improve disaster prevention ability of resident islands.
