  • Abstract
In this paper, a globally optimal optimization algorithm is used for broadband design of a wideband panel sleeve monopole antenna. The antenna is to meet the FCC standard on VSWR for FM broadcasting antennas, which is VSWR<1.3 all over the 88-108 MHz range. Open-sleeve dipoles have been traditionally constructed out of cylindrical wires with two or more parasitic elements. In this paper, however, only one thick wire plays the role of sleeve. The benefit of such a scheme is that the singular parasitic wire acts the role of both sleeve and director towards the desired direction. Besides, due to the structure simplicity, optimization is done faster. It is noteworthy that the designed antenna needs only a simple inductance for matching; which is simply realized by two fragments of wire incorporated into the antenna structure
