Abstract
Novel metamaterial, based on wire media embedded into magnetized ferrite, is proposed and studied. Magnetic bias field is parallel to the wires and a wave propagates transversely to this direction. In this case effective permeability can be introduced. Dispersion diagram and applicability of the Drude model for description of wire media in a host matrix, possessing high permittivity and permeability, are discussed. Wire medium allows to reduce effective permittivity of the ferrite. Such a structure can find application as patch antenna substrates.
