Abstract :
A fuzzy method for detecting mammographic microcalcifications is proposed. The fuzzy detection algorithm examines the degree of membership in terms of brightness, distance and variance, and then assigns an output value which represents the likelihood of the pixel being a microcalcification. The microcalcification detection (MCD) algorithm is implemented using software and a hardware platform. The MCD algorithm shows encouraging results, which can be further improved in terms of accuracy and time performance
