Abstract :
Typhoon disaster is a complex system in which the environmental possibilities with hazard (EPH) and the bodies bearing disasters (BBD) are various. And different disasters caused by typhoon not only have their own laws of occurring, developing and turning into disasters, but also have explicit relationships among them. As a modeling tool describing concepts on semantic and knowledge level, ontology provides a new approach to the investigation of natural disasters. According to the theory of natural disasters system, this paper described a formal and hierarchical domain ontology of typhoon disasters. And some typical chain patterns of typhoon disasters were identified based on this ontology manually.
