Abstract
A novel improved PSM mode in DC-DC converter is proposed in this paper. Based on energy balance, besides the large duty ratio, which is utilized in the simple PSM mode, a small duty ratio is adopted, which can make the output voltage small and utilization of energy high. Moreover, a smallest duty ratio is used to ensure the actual frequency of the switching device escaping from the audible range in theory. The operation principle, the design of the control circuit, the simulations and the experiment results focused on a boost converter are given. Deep analyses indicate that the improved PSM converter has good stability, high utilization of energy, high response speed, low ripple of the output voltage and good anti-interference characteristics
