The evaluation of urban residents´ life quality in Beijing, China based on factor analysis

This paper is based on the international and national study of the theory and the evaluation method of the life quality, and combining with the actual development characteristic of all the districts in Beijing to build a evaluation index system of the residents´ life quality in Beijing - with 32 basic index (for 3 levels). Then four principal component factors of the life quality are extracted via principal component analysis, and the scores of the life quality of each district in Beijing in 2008 are estimated via the factor analysis. The result shows that among the four factors of life quality, the economic development level, the transport accessibility, the medical condition and the air temperature occupy the most important position, and the top three districts in the score list are the Dongcheng District, Xicheng District and Xuanwu District.
