Abstract
The authors provide a general outline of research being carried out in the field of robotics at various research centers and present the future research issues in this area. Various aspects, such as application of telerobots in space and the design requirements and limitations, are discussed. The role of artificial intelligence in making telerobots smart is emphasized.<>
