Abstract :
This paper presents the characterization of a multilayered volumetric negative-refractive-index transmission-line (NRI-TL) metamaterial. An equivalent circuit model provides expressions for the effective material parameters of the medium and yields its dispersion and transmission properties. These results are presented with supporting finite-element full-wave simulations illustrating the phase-restoration and transmission properties of a volumetric NRI-TL slab lens with refractive index -1 and matched to free space, for a plane-wave incident over a wide range of angles
