Abstract
In WDM networks Routing and Wavelength Assignment (RWA) has proved a major challenge in the field telecommunications. Additionally, nonlinear effects have been found to limit the performance of WDM-based systems. In this paper, various RWA algorithms are analyzed in the presence of Four Wave Mixing (FWM). Based on the analysis, the obtained results reveal that the routing algorithm shortest-path-first outperforms the longest-path-first in the last-fit wavelength assignment algorithm.
