Abstract :
This paper addresses the performance of the adaptive N23 credit based ABR mechanism for traffic control of ATM networks. The end-to-end burst delay across a network controlled by such a mechanism is studied by simulation and we analyse the delay sensitivity to the protocol parameters and give some recommendations about their setting. From the simulation results we propose an analytic approximation for the burst delay of a connection which is applicable to any network configuration
