Abstract
The paper presents a discrete space vector pulse-width modulation applied to direct torque control (DTC) of PMSM, which is a compromise between performance and low complexity because the use of look-up tables. DSBM is able to produce more voltage vectors than are available with the classical DTC, by using different look-up tables depending on the value of the emf voltage induced in the stator windings. While a large number of voltage vectors would improve performance in terms of low ripple, they would require large and complex look-up table. The implementation of DSVM based DTC for PMSM has been presented, and both the classical and improved DTC system have been tested on a dSPACE platform to evaluate their real life behaviour. Experimental results show that torque ripple is mostly decreased in the steady state, while dynamic performance is maintained during transients. In the mean time, the switching frequency is fixed by the DSVM approach
