  • Abstract
This paper presents a method for the wind system control that consists of a wind turbine coupled to a permanent magnet synchronous generator. Based on the wind turbine power characteristic, it is aimed to determine the reference of mechanical-angular speed in order to extract the maximum mechanical energy at time-varying wind speeds. Another important issue is to determine the load resistance of the permanent magnets synchronous generator in order to achieve an operating in the maximum power point (or, in other words, maximum power point tracking) of the wind turbine. The parameters of the mathematical models, for the permanent magnet synchronous generator and the wind turbine, have been basically determined from the experimental data. The control structure is accomplished by the measurement of instantaneous wind speed and the determination of wind turbine maximum power point, by power measurement of the permanent magnets synchronous generator and the average angular speed, as well.
