Abstract
There is an interest in the correct characterization of spatially transient regimes in waveguides. We compared the collocation method (Sharma and Banerjee 1989), and the beam propagation method combined with the fast Fourier transform (Van Roy et al. 1983) and the finite-difference method (Chung and Dagli 1990) (FFT-BPM and FD-BPM) applied to the investigation of the transient regime in an irregular planar waveguide
