Abstract
SVG WebGIS solution has been long recognized but not properly worked for mapping and performing spatial analysis. This paper examines different API approaches to SVG´s spatial functionality as well as the architecture of spatial information and functionality services within SVG Applied Standard Document (SASD). Through experimentation, spatial APIs for SASD were not only to implement spatial information services (WMS, WCS, WFS & CPS), such as accessing spatial geometric elements and attributes and spatial measurement, but also to support the various spatial functionality services such as DEM creation, buffering analysis, overlapping analysis and transportation networking analysis etc. Both spatial data and SVG APIs were integrated into SASD as a system implementing spatial services within it. Finally, some case studies are compared with the approach.
