  • Abstract
    Mobile computing has emerged in reality with the advancement of wireless communication along with powerful portable computing devices. Mobile computing system is a distributed system consisting of some static as well as mobile nodes connected to each other by a communication network. Mobility introduces some unique features like limited bandwidth, limited battery power, limited storage and frequent disconnection of mobile nodes. Hence checkpointing techniques dealing with fault tolerance for distributed systems are no more suitable for mobile computing systems. Taking into consideration the limitations we here propose a new scheme of check pointing and failure recovery that specifically focuses on lessening power consumption, effective using the limited available memory and utilizing the bandwidth.
