Abstract :
An algorithm is presented to extract the systolic and diastolic values from a noninvasive pressure signal previously recorded. It has been developed to be applied to studies related to orthostatic intolerance. This kind of testing usually involves rapid changes in heart rate and pressure level. Traditional methods, as gradient and threshold, are prone to fail in these circumstances; even the adaptive methods are not robust enough in this nonstationary environment. Our method was successfully tested on noninvasive continuous blood pressure signals.
