Abstract :
A behavioral model of the nonlinear response of a microwave quadrature modulator is developed to investigate the impact of modulator nonlinearity on spectral regrowth of wireless communications signals. The nonlinear characteristic of each input is modeled by a complex power series. The model parameters are extracted from the single-tone amplitude-to-amplitude (AM-AM) and amplitude-to-phase (AM-PM) measurement data. The model was verified with an uplink WCDMA pilot signal applied to the quadrature modulator. The measured ACLR data is in excellent agreement with the modeled results
