Abstract
The torque behavior of a synchronous reluctance machine (including the PM assisted configuration) is studied analytically, to the aim of individuating the position of the flux-barrier ends that minimizes the torque ripple. A new strategy is proposed based on a suitable choice of these positions together with the combinations of rotor laminations of different type. This allows the torque harmonics to be compensated and a smooth torque to be achieved
