Abstract
This paper describes a sampling method and MMIC circuits that permits a simple but efficient technique to analysis UWB impulse radio (UWB IR) signals. It is composed of an ultra high speed sample and hold amplifier (SHA), a pulse generator and a very fine time control system. This proposed architecture can be useful for several applications from positioning and ranging to telecommunication functions, such as synchronization and demodulation. The SHA exhibits a 14 GHz bandwidth with a 1 dB ripple over the DC to 10 GHz bandwidth. Its conversion gain is 0.5 dB up to 8 GHz
