  • Abstract
    This paper presents a new design rule for servo-drive applications to select a servo-motor with an energy optimal gear ratio. In contrast to the well-known inertia matching gear ratio, this new approach considers both current heat losses and iron losses of the motor. As the result, the total motor losses as well as the motor and frequency inverter size will be reduced.
