Abstract
The main aim of much research into multiphase synchronous circuits is to produce circuits with higher clock speeds. A second motivation is their low power dissipation when implemented in CMOS. In this paper, we give an overview of the analysis and synthesis of multiphase circuits, which has been described in greater detail elsewhere. Two examples are then given of state machines which have been implemented in a variety of ways so that their power consumption can be estimated and compared
