Abstract
Different resonant particles are analyzed for a coplanar sensor device that is able to operate in two modes: sensing dielectric properties of organic tissue and performing thermal ablation therapy. For an efficient transfer of the electromagnetic energy into the tissue, a careful analysis of how the ablation zone is affected by the different resonator particles is performed. The investigated resonant particles coupled to a CPW line include Split-rings, spirals and intersecting rings resonators. Measurement results confirm local temperatures between 60 °C and 100 °C with a maximum input power of 7W.
