  • Abstract
We have proposed a fully-native Ethernet (FNE) optical ring, integrating one-by-one (O-O) and point-to-point (P2P) links for customer-owned networks. A case study to design the proposed FNE ring clarified that required number of optical transceivers in the FNE ring is less than that in P2P links, providing a cost-effective solution. The experimental network of the FNE optical ring was constructed and the performance was evaluated. The result clarified that the 2 types of links could be integrated, and the packets were routed on the fully-native Ethernet base
